Mary Completes her first Ultra Marathon (30 miles)

Well done to Mary Davis and Daughter Claire for completing there first (and anyone from Peterhead Jogscotland) Ultra Marathon called Doyen of Downs today in Sussex. We are very proud of you!!! Thanks to Mary for sending me this write up. It started off as a horrible dark and wet day when we left the house at 6:30 am to be ready for the start at 8. With the rain only giving way for hail and sleet within the first 10 miles, it looked like we would be in for a long, wet slog. As we neared the halfway point the clouds finally began to clear and the sun poked through from the clouds brightening our spirits along with the beautiful Sussex countryside, with the South Downs all around us. Unfortunately, we were going to be taking an active part of the scenery, going up and down in equal extremes. But we squeaked in with minutes to spare, conquering the Downs and first ultra in a mud bath of a finish line. 30 miles, 1 pair of socks and many many hills later – To find for about this event simply click here
